Shanghai Museum, covering an area of 40,000 square meters (47,840 square yards), is a large-scale treasure house of the ancient Chinese arts. It has 12 themed showrooms displaying the abundant and exquisite exhibits, including varied bronze wares, ceramics, calligraphy works, jade wares, and paintings.
Occupying an area of over 20,000 square meters (24,000 square yards), Yuyuan Garden was once a private garden owned by a court official and now becomes a world-famous historical site; some even consider it a jewel of classical garden in southern Yangtze River. Buildings in the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368 – 1911) are worth a close appreciation. Besides, clear ponds, bizarre rockeries and lush plants harmoniously set off each other, injecting a bit of natural atmosphere into the garden.
The Bund, about 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) long, is a must-see place known for dozens of distinctive architectures built in different styles, and charming view of the Huangpu River. It is seated on the eastern bank of the Huangpu River, and faces the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jin Mao Tower on the opposite. In this area, there are 52 exotic and classic buildings for people to appreciate.
Cruising on the Huangpu River would provide you a superb experience of viewing the Bund, enjoying the beauty of the river and taking marvelous photos of the high-rise architectural complex on both sides from a different perspective.
